Things you will need first.
We always insist you wear safety googles/glasses.
You will need a hammer and /or chisel
You can also place the geode into a old sock to catch any shards from your crystal rock.

So this can make a great present or game for the kids to do (with adult supervision)
They simply take all the steps above and first gently hit your geode in the middle until it cracks (hopefully into 2)
Then have fun discovering what has formed inside.

There is no easy way of telling what the inside of a geode holds until it is cut open or broken apart.
